Lost and Found: Berta Hummel's rediscovered Works
January 30, 2013 to January, 2014

On January 29th, 2013, Manfred Hölzlein, the highest county official, will open the exhibition "Lost and Found: Berta Hummel's rediscovered Works." Nearly one hundred of her works have been rediscovered since the opening of the museum in 1994. Many of these were paintings privately owned by families who no longer wished to keep the works of art and sold them to the museum. Another large portion of these rediscovered works, the calendar series, was part of an American collection, which was also made available to the museum. Last year, with the closing of the Goebel-Hummel archives in Roedental another 38 pictures came into our possession. Many of these pictures were motives for the world famous Hummel figurines.

After many exhibitions with famous German artists, this will be an exhibition showing only the works of Berta Hummel. Along with all of the rediscovered work of Berta Hummel, there is also a room displaying her flower paintings. For the collectors of Hummel figurines we also have a showcase with the Hummel figurines exhibited next to the original paintings.

The exhibition is planned until the end of January 2014. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 pm. On Sundays and holidays it is open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m.
