PEOPLE PORTRAITS - BERTA HUMMEL MEETS HORST JANSSEN
EXHIBITION FROM MAY 19TH THROUGH OCTOBER 22ND 2006

The new exhibition was opened on May 19th, 2006 by district president, Manfred Hölzlein. Horst Janssen is considered to be the most important German post-war painter and graphic artist and the Berta Hummel Museum was proud to be presenting a selection of 33 of his excellent works. The Horst-Janssen Museum in Oldenburg has made these excellent works available to our museum. At the opening of the exhibition the director of the Horst Janssen Museum, Dr. Moster-Hoos, spoke about his life and about the works she had brought with her. This exhibition is only the fourth in southern Germany. His pictures have only been exhibited in Stuttgart, Nürnberg and Munich. Berta Hummel and Horst Janssen complement each other in the exhibition. A close comparison of the portraits and the self-portraits reveals similarities and parallels that will surprise and fascinate the viewers.
